Confused about the cost of Medicare Supplements--Which Plan--How Much?

If you are looking for a very low prices plan then you need to look at a Medicare Advantage Plan page on this web site for a description of plans that have low out-of-pocket limits.

We have the answers to your Medicare Supplement Questions!!!

I have looked at many many different Medicare Supplement plans and have chosen to work with just three this year, BlueCross and BlueShield of Il, United of Omaha, a Mutual of Omaha company, and Gerber Life Insurance Co., a Mutual of Omaha supported and underwritten plan.

BlueCross and BlueShield does not have any health questions or waiting periods on pre-existing conditions.  Their Plan F is the most widely written plan in the State.  This is the plan and the company that you will be proud to have as your supplement plan carrier.  United of Omaha has very low rates and they protect them by asking health questions including height and weight to everyone out of their open enrollment period.  We do write the majority of our clients currently with United of Omaha, a Mutual of Omaha Company.

The new player, Gerber Life, has the same plans as Mutual of Omaha, and almost the same rates.  In some ways, it is more liberal that the Mutual of Omaha application.

Take a look at BlueCross and BlueShield of Illinois's Plan L.  It is about 25% less than Plan F but you pay a portion (like 25%) of the deductibles each year until you have met your annual limit of $2200/yr.  Considering Medicare Advantage Plans with out-of-pocket limits of $6,000.yr this looks like it now is a viable alternative and with a company that we all know and trust.

Yes, I can write BlueCross and BlueShield Medicare Supplements on applicants age 80+.  The rate for any one age 80-84 for Plan F is currently $234.00, while age 85+ is $241 per month.

I believe that currently United of Omaha has the
very best rate for Plan F or Plan G.
I recommend that all
age 65 clients consider using these plans.
